  1. Theories of interactive teaching

In the past decades, researches on English reading have been studied and some theories and reading models have been proposed. Among them, the most popular reading models are bottom-up model, top-down model and interactive model. And interactive teaching which has been applied in the interactive model has a long history and is a hot topic studied by scholars at home and abroad. In a practical sense, in the system of modern education, interactive teaching is also constantly improved in practical application, which is welcomed by more and more teachers and students. and it has the significance of development in optimizing the traditional reading teaching mode.

1.1 Definition of interaction

The word “interaction” has already existed in 1980s. In the Oxford Advanced Learnerrsquo;s Dictionary, it is defined as “mutual or reciprocal action or influence”. British linguist Zoltan Douml;rnyei and Angi Malderez (Arnold, 2000) hold that interaction refers to the situation in which the behavior of each person influences the others. And through many researches in a long period of time, scholars and experts have concluded some natures of interaction. For instance, interaction emphasizes the two-way relationship, equality, cooperation, individual contributions, personal participation and experience.

These qualities such as cooperation, equality, individuality and interpersonal participation are what the education industry expects and advocates today. This is the reason why “interaction” has been developing and spreading so rapidly in English teaching and learning field.

Hence, in the teaching area, Ellis (1985) suggests that both teaching and learning, to a large extent, should be devoted to interaction among learners themselves. The result of this interaction is thought to be positive. It is also very important for teachers and schools to encourage students to use student-student interaction.

And also, Allwright (1984) claims that interaction is the fundamental fact of classroom pedagogy. Interaction penetrates every corner of learning and teaching, that is, everything happens in the classroom is through a process of communication and interaction.

Therefore, it can be seen that interaction plays an essential role in teaching. In normal conditions, interaction refers to situations in which the behavior of each thing has an effect on each other which happens everywhere. While in teaching, it advocates the interaction between text and students, teachers and students, students and students.

Consequently, with the efforts of some experts and scholars, a new teaching mode comes into being, that is, interactive teaching. As for interactive teaching, it is first proposed by Palincsar (1982). And then it has been further studied and developed. It is a teaching mode based on Scaffolding Teaching Theory, in which teachersrsquo; teaching and studentsrsquo; learning behaviors are equally in exchange and independently interacted with each other around a certain problem or topic under the macro teaching situation, owning important educational value.
